The Journey
Everything starts with a dream. Jackie and Cheryl knew that part of their dream was having the opportunity to work for themselves and own an office. Someday seemed long off as it tends to. However, they believed in timing and that things happen for a reason.
Naturally, Jackie and Cheryl knew that they wanted to provide an office space that felt comfortable enough to work in, inviting enough for clients to feel welcomed, and personalized enough to capture the essence of the importance of mental health.
Creating a name was the challenging part of the journey. In April 2017, heaven gained two beautiful but young angels, Samantha Mercey and Kyla Pokorny. Jackie and Cheryl knew they wanted the name somehow to incorporate these two young ladies, their shortened lives, and their impact on the world. Eventually they came across the April flower, the daisy but it didn’t quite make the statement that they were looking for. The dahlia, a flower that is within the daisy family, did however become a promising symbol. After finding the meaning of the dahlia flower, there was no doubt that it would be the name of their new business.
With the support of loved ones, former clients, and professionals in the field, Jackie and Cheryl made their dream a reality. Both have felt extremely fortunate to be able to follow their dreams.
Dahlia Counseling Services, LLC opened in September 2017.
Services:
Dahlia Counseling services provides individual therapy to adolescents and adults, ages 13 and older. We provide family therapy services for those who are also engaged in individual services. Day time and afternoon appointments are available by request.
At Dahlia Counseling Services, our most commonly used practices include positive psychology, solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and person centered therapy.
Insurances accepted: Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Cigna, Connecticare, Harvard Pilgrim, Health New England, Husky (CT Medicaid), Meritain Health, Oxford and United Healthcare. Please inquire about other plans and EAPs.
Dahlia Counseling Services also accepts private pay. As of January 1, 2024 the rate is $125/hour.
